If we were able to be pulled into this place, it's not surprising that whatever forces involved have the capability to gain that information, but it is still... troubling.
It just means they did their research before we were brought here, but that just opens up the same question I've been asking since we got here. Why us? What do they need us for?
Since this competition is new, and we were selected for it, then clearly that's a part of why-- but it doesn't explain anything, without knowing more of what this is going to involve.
[she takes a seat, proper posture and everything, propping her staff against the chair.]
If each dorm has particular values, then that might be a factor in what they're trying to accomplish in seeing which wins, but you would think they could choose-- any number of existing students, if that was all they wanted.
[he's going to slouch against the wall to face her, sipping from the cup in his hand as he nods.]
You saw the task board, didn't you? Each one aligns with a dorm, but we don't know which is which. I've been trying to figure it out for days to come up with an answer but I'm not having a ton of luck.
[because yeah. if each dorm has particular values, it could tie into why they're a part of this competition in the first place.]
Either we're expected to work it out on our own, or... it's a part of the competition itself. Maybe both. Learning what people will choose based on its own merit, rather than only picking what aligns with their assigned dorm-- but with the option to at least try to only choose yours.
[hm. she considers a moment, before:]
Whether you're participating or not- which would it be for you, going only by the options themselves?
It wouldn't surprise me if it was the latter. It kind of feels like everything's part of the competition right now.
[:unamused:
but it's been a few days since the tasks went up which means he's had time to think about this.]
At first it was hard to say because I think all four of them are important to me. But...the more I think about it, I think my own answer would be love. A lot of people seem to feel that way though.
I've heard that once or twice from others as well. Love and hope are both-- very close to each other in importance, for myself, but I think my answer is the same.
So they do. They may be related to the others associated with each dorm, though that might also be too easy, considering one of Summer's is literally hope.
[that seems like a big freebie? a pretty big one.
her expression shifts slightly when she answers the question, though, a little more fond-- though with something maybe a bit bittersweet to it.]
But I'm trying to return to my friends. My family. We... haven't exactly been in close contact, for the last several years, and things are a little-- complicated, at the moment, but... I was with them, before being brought here.
Exactly. It's not the only one that could be applied multiple different ways, so even if that is the right association, it only narrows it down so much.
[it's a little bit of a preferable topic, honestly, to what's going on at home... but she does get back to that.]
I think that we have-- a pretty good chance. But it's our last one.
[unfortunately he just nods to word association because he prefers to stick to a topic he has more questions about and less about critical thinking.]
All you need is one, even if it is the last. And if you're all together that's better. Who knows? Maybe being here will help increase your chance. That's what I've been thinking about for some of the people here.
[fine by him. but hum...the thing is, he cares about a lot of people. like a lot of people.]
Before I got here, I was with my friends. So I need to get back to them. I've known almost all of them since elementary school, plus my younger sister. We've had some pretty big adventures together.
[how to explain...]
Sora's one of my oldest friends. I've known her since we were really young, and we used to be in the same soccer club in elementary school. She doesn't play anymore but she's always really good at solving her own problems and keeping us all together. [team mom...]
Jou's studying to become a doctor. He's a little older than us, but he always comes through just when we need him even when he's busy with everything else. He used to be the kind of guy that didn't know how to take charge, but he's gotten better.
Koushiro's the smartest person I know. Always has been. I've known him forever, too, and even if I don't understand what he's saying half the time I think he understands me in ways other people don't. We think alike on some things even if he's the computer genius. We probably would've been even more lost without him.
Mimi-chan's...kind of intense. She's matured a lot since she was ten but she doesn't like taking no for an answer and usually does whatever she thinks is right anyway. But she's always herself and doesn't apologize for it.
Takeru's Yamato's younger brother. He and Hikari were in second grade the first time we were in that other world, but he learned to take care of himself while we were there. He's not really good at giving up on things, even if he's kind of...[there's no polite way of saying takeru's a troll, so he grins.] He's pretty easy-going.
Hikari's my younger sister. [a pause.] She believes there's light in everybody and she believes in the best of people. She's probably smarter than I'll ever be, but she's brave and selfless. She's always ready to help anyone who needs it.
[it's something the yagamis have in common.]
Mochizuki's newer, but she's still a friend. [and yet he still calls her by her surname and not her first name.] We're still learning and working together.
And then Yamato's here, so...them and the Digimon are the people we need to return to.

[a slight frown, at that.]

[nevertheless...it's an expression he's seen on a few people's faces, so he listens while she begins to explain.]
A lot of us were with important people before we can. [he tilts his head.] How complicated? Can things be fixed?
no subject
[because of course she memorized those while she was studying the entirety of this place.]
...but I don't know just how much the situation can be fixed. That's-- going to depend on several things, but most of all upon surviving, first.

[how confusing.]
What're the chances of surviving in that case?

But- why don't you tell me who you care about, Taichi.
[enough about her for now.]
