By my estimation... they remember. But they remember what they think to be true, which is the motivation that pushed them into killing, and so they aren't willing to give themselves up. After the fact, though...

Forgot all of you were people that I knew. I didn't really recall conversations with you, I... knew I spoke with someone from the daycare to learn the information that I had, but I couldn't remember that it was Sieghart. I thought it had just been a stranger, for some reason.

Possibly.

For a bit I had the suspicion that those who were most easily reached in that way were-- people who had experienced something similar before, or had some predisposition to it. I don't know if he's one of them, but he wasn't one of the people in our dorm I was most concerned about.
