Not quite the same, then... I've never known of being able to establish portals to another world entirely. Other planes, yes, but only the ones already part of that reality.

Was it tied to your original world in any way? Or somewhere completely different?

It was completely different as far as I know. After we fixed some things time synced up to be the same as our world, but for a while it was one day there for every one minute back home.

But I guess it was kind of tied to home because things that were happening would affect both worlds. They were still two totally different places though. Rules there didn't apply the same back home and vice versa.

The way I understand the universe to work, that shouldn't be possible... but neither should being here, so I guess that's that.

It's complicated. I've been looking around and I haven't seen any signs of a gate that was opened or anything. How we got here is still a mystery.

And so is how we get back, if we can't find how we arrived in the first place.

Usually that's through another gate. Sometimes we found them ourselves, and sometimes they opened on their own. If there's a gate here, it's probably under construction, I bet.

Then it all comes right back around to waiting.

For now. But just because we're waiting doesn't mean we can't start looking for other solutions, right? Nobody really knows how we got here, but I've been hearing a few things from other people about things around campus.

...don't get too close to the construction, by the way. Apparently it'll make you black out.

So I've heard. From what I know, the dorm buildings aren't too different from each other either, but I'm not discounting the possibility that one might be more useful than the others.

I dunno. The inside of fall's dorm looks pretty different than ours, and what I've heard about winter's is even different from that. So I don't think I'd discount it yet either.

Well- yes, the decor is varied, but at their cores they have the same purpose. It's the other rooms that I'm less certain of.

Do we have any idea what the other rooms could even be? It's not like I think of "coffeehouse" when I think of spring or anything.

None so far. I haven't heard anyone describe them, yet, and if ours is any indication... guessing will be hard at best.

I might start asking around again to see if people will share. If not, then we'll figure out something else. It can't be that bad.

In time, maybe they will. It should be fine.

The same thing I've done so far. Keep an eye on what I can, talk to the rest of you, and see if there's-- well, anything at all that we can figure out.

Can you tell me a little more about your experience? It does sound different than ours.

[ambiography]

We've studied the planar system, in my world. There isn't only one component to it-- we live on what is known as the Prime Material Plane, but there are thirteen in total, from the Astral Plane of the dead to the Elemental Planes. Any given world is an entire system, but while you can travel between the planes, it is... difficult, at best, to leave a world in its entirety and travel to another system. Under most circumstances, it's impossible.

If you're able to meet those-- particular circumstances, there's no telling where you might end up on the other side.

So it's probably advised not to leave to go to another system at all. What kind of qualifications do you need to do something like that?

[ambiography]

You don't need any qualifications yourself, exactly. The system itself needs to be under certain conditions, but it's... best not to experience them.

So everything's controlled by a system that's pre-set.

But how do you change the system?

[ambiography]

Not... really. Any planar system isn't preset so much as it operates in a particular balance, which-- is capable of being disrupted, in extreme cases.

[goalsides]

["Why is everything always about balance..." this is always a lowkey question even if he does, actually, understand why. for the most part. so instead he's busy trying to understand the planar system.]

Does it take a lot to keep it balanced? Or is it kind of self-sufficient that way outside of extreme cases?

It's self-sufficient, yes, unless it's disrupted-- but if it is, the consequences are usually... well, rough. Interfering with them can eliminate life on the Material Plane.
